Adrian Brown graduated from Thames Polytechnic in 1982 with a degree in International Marketing.
After working for a small marketing company in Cambridgeshire for one year, Adrian’s love of ships and shipping got the better of him and he joined GLM, part of Powell Duffryn Shipping as a Shipbroker.

Three years later, Adrian joined ICIS-LOR and moved to Paris where he set up the ICIS Shipping Report. 1988 saw him move back to the United Kingdom, still with ICIS, where he became a Senior Editor. In 1990 he was responsible for inaugurating the ICIS Base Oils Reports, and was Editor for the European Base Oils Report until 2007 when he joined SSY.

Adrian’s primary role at SSY is in the Research Department where one of his tasks is to produce various weekly market reports, including a base oils shipping report.
