Thom attended the University of Waterloo were he received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry.  He has been involved in the development, manufacture and support of lubricants for 31 years.   He is currently Technical Director of Branded Lubricants with Valvoline and serves as Chairman of the ASTM Passenger Car Classification Panel.
