Jonathan Forbes-Lane

Jonathan Forbes-Lane is the General Manager of Shell's European Aromatics business, based in London. He is also a Director of Shell Chemicals UK Ltd and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Lower Olefins and Aromatics REACH Consortium, which comprises 36 manufacturers and importers of over 130 base chemical substances.

Jonathan graduated with first class honours from Oxford University in 1987 after studying Chemistry. He joined Shell that year and started his career as a Solvents sales representative in the North West of England.

Since then he has held various positions in sales, marketing and corporate strategy in the UK, the Netherlands and the US. In his last role, he was Global Customer Manager accountable for coordinating activities across all Shell Chemicals businesses and functions to serve five of Shell Chemical's most strategic customers.
He also had a significant role in the 4.4 billion euro divestment to Access Industries of Basell, Shell's 50% owned polyolefins joint venture in 2005.

Jonathan is married with two children and enjoys jogging, learning to play golf with his son, and occasional games of squash.
