Rajen graduated in Commerce from Bombay University and also qualified in Cost Accountancy from Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India. During the course he has also attended various specialized courses in Management organized by INSEAD - France, IIM - BANGLORE and MIT Sloan – USA. 

He has joined Reliance in 1984 in the Polyester Division, marketing à POY, Staple Fibre, Chips etc. 

After a corporate restructure during November 2008, Rajen took over the entire Polyester Chain Business and is responsible for the business and manufacturing functions of PFY, PSF, PTY, PET, PX, PTA, MEG, Ethylene Oxide, TEG and DEG. He is also heading Recron (Malaysia) unit. Apart from Business activities, he has held leadership for many Mergers and Acquisitions within India and overseas, de-bottlenecking, expansions and in many other Management day to day activities. He is presently designated as President – Polyester Chain.

Under his leadership, MEG business has grown by another 405 KTA & PTA 825 KTA.
