Chris Depreeuw graduated as Master in Civil Engineering of the University of Louvain in 1978 and afterwards obtained a Masters in General Management at the Ghent University. After working for many years in the construction industry, he worked for five years in Private Equity, where he became Chairman of the Belgian Venture Capital Association. Since 1989 he managed consecutively Desimpel Industries, a major listed Benelux brick manufacturer and Remi Claeys Aluminium, a midsized European aluminium company. Both companies were later taken over by global players in their sector. Chris Depreeuw became a member of the European Aluminium Association and Chairman of the Belgian Aluminium Association. 

In 2004 he joined Oleon NV, a leading European company in the Oleochemical industry, active in the production of chemicals based on natural oils and fats. Oleon created Oleon Biodiesel in 2006. In 2009 Oleon was acquired by Sofiprotéol, a French group operating in all vegetable oil applications ranging from food, feed, biofuels to oleochemistry. Chris Depreeuw is the President of APAG , the organisation for the European Oleochemical Industry and he is also Chairman of BBB, the Belgian Biodiesel Board .
