Ian joined Forest Research in 1997, and has been involved in many research projects investigating the productivity and performance of forestry based bioenergy systems.

Since April 2006 he has lead the development and day to day management of the Biomass Energy Centre which provides unbiased information to those seeking to produce or use biomass derived fuels in the UK.
