Michael Weitz joined CHOREN in April 2004. He is responsible for the development of a BTL (biomass to liquids) specific biomass strategy for CHOREN.

Michael played a central role in the site selection process for industrial-scale BTL-plants by developing detailed biomass supply scenarios for several locations in Germany. Simultaneously he has been building up a network of partners for the efficient biomass supply of the 68.000 bdt/a BTL-plant in Freiberg/Germany.

Currently the focus of his activities is concentrated on the development of commercial SRC (short rotation coppice) projects and the implementation of biomass sourcing concepts for the 1.000.000 bdt/a BTL-plant which is planed to be built in Schwedt/Germany.
