Dr Olea, who is originally from Romania and has 26 years experience in teaching and research, came to the University of Teesside in January last year.
After leaving Romania nine years ago, where she was an Associate Professor, Dr Olea spent two and a half years at the University of Tokyo, where she taught MA students.
Dr Olea also spent five years at Ghent University in Belgium, where she taught MA and PhD students and worked on a research project covering heterogeneous catalysis.
