Bengt Otterholm received his MSc degree in Chemical Engineering in 1979 and Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1987, both from Chalmers University of Technology, Goteborg, Sweden. He joined Volvo Technology 1989 and worked at the Surface Physics and Tribology lab for 2 years and was appointed Volvo Group Lubricants Coordinator in 1991, a position he currently holds.
He is a current member of the ACEA Fuels and Lubricants Working Group and he is also the group leader for ACEA Heavy Duty Engine Oil Subgroup.
He is a former member of the SAE Technical Committees 1 and 3 (Engine Oils and Gear Oils, respectively) as well as the SAE Fuels and Lubricants Division.
He also served as CEC TLTC Chairman (Transmission Lubricants Technical Committee) for three years (1994-1997)
