In 1974 he started as an ‘Oiltrader’ with Transol, one of the first oil trading companies in The Netherlands.

 

In 1981 he started his own trading company in the Rotterdam oil market. During the period 1981 – 1994 all kinds of oil products were traded. His company specialized in blending components for intermediate fuel oils. In this period he also started to market Industrial oils ex Eastern Europe.

 

The East European Base Oil products became of more interest to the Western blending companies, so on request of supply Companies he started marketing into the downstream market in

N.W Europe.

 

In January 2007 Hans joined PETRONAS to market their new Group III Base Oil into Europe. From this PETRONAS MARKETING (Netherlands) was founded, of which Hans Groen has been the Managing Director since the start-up in May 2007.
