Brent Lok
Global Marketing & New Business Development Manager
CHEVRON

Brent joined Chevron in 1981 with a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from StanfordUniversity. After a couple years in synfuels research (oil shale), it was clear the technology was going to be shelved as crude prices dropped. So he joined the lubricants industry in 1984. He had stints in both process and product technical support of RLOP base oils, including the early development of Chevron's ISODEWAXING technology.

In 1989 Brent moved over to market and product management of finished lubricants, managing a wide range of lubricant products. In 1995, he came back to base oils as manager of base oil product development, primarily responsible for commercializing UCBOs. Currently he is global manager of base oil marketing and new business development. In his current capacity he guides long-range strategies for Chevron's global base oil business, in addition to being accountable for the product technology, marketing and business development support for Chevron's base oil business.

In addition to his day-to-day activities, he is quite busy today working on various internal teams to build and market the products from the newest Chevron base oil plant at Pascagoula, Mississippi, USA.

"In addition to ensuring our current product slate brings maximum value to our customers, I also project future market trends insuring that Chevron is positioned to be a leader in offering cutting edge base oils that meet or exceed tightening specifications in the most cost-effective way for the customers."
